The Biblioteca Umberto Eco officially opens at the University of Bologna on 1 July 2026, bringing together more than 35,000 volumes from the writer’s personal library, transferred in their entirety from his Milan study.
Housed at Palazzo Poggi, the collection is arranged according to Eco’s own original ordering system, preserved rather than reorganised, and made available to students and researchers of the university.
